The Rooster of Guatemala

From restaurants and clubs to locally brewed Gallo Cerveza, every corner of Guatemala can boast a chicken or two. Even though the bird of Guatemala is the striking Quetzal, the rooster is definitely more present, symbolic, and necessary element in animal husbandry.   The most notable of all the roosters in Guatemala, however, is the infamous Chicken bus. Painted in a cocky plumage of colour, the Chicken Bus is definitely the way to go in order to experience the conversational friendliness of Guatemalan's and sometimes their livestock--such as a chicken tucked under the seat.  Regardless of who sits next to who and where they are going, on the Chicken Bus, all are in for a bit of a wild enterprise.
